Take to the skies in Airfix's Bristol Bulldog Mk. IIA
Christmas is fast approaching, but the year isn’t over just yet — and Airfix has delivered a welcome surprise for kit builders with its announcement of the Airfix Bristol Bulldog Mk. IIA for 1:48 scale.
Based on Airfix’s brand-new 2024 tooling of the Bristol Bulldog Mk.II, this latest kit allows modellers to recreate the Mk. IIA variant of this powerful RAF biplane. Designed with accuracy firmly in mind, the kit incorporates several newly-tooled parts to correctly represent the ‘A’ variant.

Once built, the model boasts a wingspan of 215mm and a fuselage length of 155mm, offering plenty of opportunity to appreciate the impressive level of detail throughout the build.

New features include the wide-track undercarriage with metal wheels, the later-style tail fin and rudder, and a selection of optional parts such as exhausts with cabin heater, spent cartridge bins, an external oil cooler, and new cylinder heads for the Bristol Jupiter VIIF engine.
Airfix has also recreated realistic fabric skin effects across key areas of the aircraft, having consulted over 1,000 original Bristol Bulldog drawings and schematics during development. Additional fine details include a camera gun, wing-mounted generators, bomb rack, and landing flare.
Three authentic decal schemes are included, covering aircraft from 1931–1935, and showcasing Bulldogs operated both in the UK and overseas, including deployments in East Africa.
This fantastic new kit is available to pre-order now, with stock arriving at TMC imminently — meaning it won’t be long before builders can start work on this classic silver biplane.
