Bachmann's latest OO gauge releases bring an exciting selection of steam and diesel traction spanning the pre-grouping era to British Rail's swansong.

From the hardworking Midland Railway 4F to the ever-popular Brush Type 4/Class 47, enthusiasts are encouraged to secure their models while stocks remain available.

Midland Railway 4Fs return to 'OO'

Few locomotives epitomise Britain's freight railway heritage quite like the Midland Railway 4F 0-6-0. Designed by Samuel Waite Johnson and later developed under Henry Fowler, the class became synonymous with heavy freight work across the LMS and later British Railways.

Bachmann's latest releases capture the character of these rugged locomotives in a variety of liveries and tender configurations, including LMS and BR examples. Available in both DCC Ready and Sound Fitted forms, the new 4Fs are ideal for layouts depicting anything from the interwar years through to the twilight of steam.

For those seeking additional realism, our renumbering service allows modellers to create unique locomotive identities or build authentic double-headed mineral workings.

The mighty Sulzers: new Class 47s

If there is one diesel-electric locomotive that can claim to have worked almost every corner of Britain's railway network, it is the Brush Type 4 – later known as the Class 47.

Bachmann's latest Class 47 releases span multiple eras, from BR blue and Railfreight grey through to West Coast Railways maroon. These new models feature some of Bachmann's most advanced technology to date, with sound-fitted 'Deluxe' versions favoured for their rotating roof fans, auto-uncoupling feature and tinted cab glazing.

North Eastern charm: J71s

The manufacturer's eagerly-awaited NER 'E' Class (later LNER and BR J71s) are some of our personal favourites – and not just because they pair perfectly with our G5 0-4-4Ts and Rapido Trains' Evolution coaches perfectly. They're ornate and beautifully-detailed, too.

These compact 0-6-0Ts were a familiar sight across North Eastern metals, handling everything from station pilot duties to branch line workings. At last, modellers have more options to recreate authentic North Eastern scenes.

Motorail car carriers

British Rail's Motorail services allowed passengers to travel by train while their cars were transported on dedicated wagons. Operating from the 1950s to the 1990s, these services connected major cities with holiday destinations including Scotland, Cornwall and the West Country.

Bachmann's OO gauge Motorail wagons accurately capture these distinctive vehicles with finely moulded details and authentic liveries. Ideal for BR Blue era layouts, they were commonly marshalled with sleeping cars and passenger stock behind locomotives such as Class 40s, 45s, 47s and 50s.

Loaded with period cars or run empty, Motorail wagons add variety and a great deal of interest to layouts.
