Rapido's sprightly SECR locomotives - close to selling out
Interested in a well-heeled locomotive for 'OO' with perfect proportions? Rapido's six-coupled SECR O1 freight locomotives for 'OO' carry charm in spades! With some variants now sold out, explore our remaining stocks before these final models are consigned to the collections of others!

Rapido Trains SECR O1 No. 385 in SECR grey, DCC sound-fitted (966503). This variant has tapered buffers, a fully-riveted smokebox and standard bufferbeams. Fitted with Next18 decoders, models have discreet mechanisms with a realistic-looking scale appearance.
Back story
The SECR Class O1 0-6-0 steam locomotives were designed for freight work by James Stirling for the South Eastern Railway (SER). Later rebuilt by the South Eastern and Chatham Railway (SECR), it is these wonderfully-proportioned locomotives that Rapido Trains has succesfully developed for 'OO' that are in stock, but available in limited supply, with models expected to sell out soon.
Originally built as the SER 'O' Class, these engines were a successful design for all-purpose freight work and a number were later modified to the O1 standard. One preserved example, No. 65, still exists at the Bluebell Railway.

Nearing the end of its life No. 31065 in British Railways late crest unlined black (966511 - DCC sound-fitted) displays the versatility of these locomotives, and can be used alongside more modern motive power. It famously hauled the 'Farewell to Steam' railtour on the Hawkhurst branch before being withdrawn from service.
