LNWR 'BRAKES' UNVEILED FOR 'OO'

Rapido Trains UK is to produce 1:76 scale / OO gauge models of the LNWR Dia. 17B brake van for 'OO'. Models are in tooling, with 14 different version revealed, all available to pre-order from us today, with optional customisation, here.

Representing the first LNWR brake van prototype produced RTR for OO, many separately-fitted parts include highly-detailed brake gear, running boards, lamp irons, ogees, and a chimney. Models are fitted with metal bearings for smooth, free running.

14 LIVERIES PROPOSED...

Interior detail includes a guard’s desk, stove, and pigeonholes. Liveries cover LNWR, LMS, BR, and BR departmental. Meanwhile, additional private owner liveries cover NCB, LMR, RNAD, MSC, and the Ore Mining Branch.

BRIEF HISTORY

First introduced in 1917 by the London and North Western Railway, the Dia. 17B brake van design was conceived as a general-purpose 20T brake. Some 539 vans were built, each carrying the number of their condemned predecessor.
