Pre-orders flood-in for limited-edition Heljan 'DB' 'Warship'
Attention modellers and collectors: here’s one you won’t want to miss!
Just like the pioneering work of the Diesel Traction Group (DTG) decades ago, Heljan has pulled off something truly special, dressing a classic BR 'Warship' in full Deutsche Bundesbahn V200 livery. It’s available to pre-order as a very special limited edition, here.

Only 150 pieces are to be made, split between DCC ready and DCC sound-fitted versions and after just one day of going live is 50% sold-out!
The model is being developed with archive photo-reference plus assistance from the DTG. It represents one of the most unusual and striking episodes in diesel preservation history — perfect for modellers who want something rare, distinctive and authentic.

A decorated sample (subject to review and not necessarily representative of the final model) was already on display at the National Festival of Railway Modelling at the NEC last weekend. With only 150 available worldwide, this truly is a collectible for the serious enthusiast.
The British Rail Class 42 'Warship' Bo-Bo diesel hydraulics were built at Swindon between 1958-1961, derived from the German V200 design under licence. One particular example, D821 Greyhound, enjoyed a unique preservation destiny thanks to the DTG.
The notion of a 'Warship' in full Deutsche Bundesbahn V200 colours is a compelling 'what-if' scenario — and Heljan's model brings it to life. Model will be released early 2027, but we recommend pre-ordering this week to secure yours as these are on-track to sell-out fast.
Prices are £186.15 for the DCC Ready version and £271.15 for the factory-fitted Loksound V decoder with ESU sound project recorded on D821 itself.
