Oxford Rail J26 Class locomotives inbound for 'OO'
Let the North Eastern Railway celebrations commence!
These exciting all-new NER P2/LNER J26 0-6-0 locomotives from Oxford Rail are due in the next two weeks and we're really looking forward to seeing them. Not only does their release coincide with Accurascale's NER 20T wagons due at the same time for which they're perfectly suited, but they'll also pair wonderfully with Bachmann's forthcoming J71s our NER 'O' Class 0-4-4Ts and the small selection of Bachmann J72s that we've customised, too!

The NER P2/LNER J26: a brief history
The North Eastern Railway (NER) required a powerful locomotive to handle the increasing size of freight trains on its network. The NER P2 design came into existence and stood out from anything previously built by the NER with a massive 5ft 6in diameter boiler. 30 were built in 1904/05 at Darlington and a further 20 built in 1905 in Gateshead. The design was modified in 1906 to produce the NER P3, later J27 design. The J26 was mainly used on goods traffic. None of the 50 J26 was preserved, with the final J26 locomotives being withdrawn in 1962.
