Rapido has received the first painted prototypes of its forthcoming Midland 483 Class locomotives, and they appear every bit as eye-catching as expected. Imagery shared by the manufacturer of samples include Midland Crimson, S&DJR Blue, LMS, and BR liveries — all sharing a high level of fit and finish and detailing to boot, particularly inside the cabs.

Each version highlights crisp lettering, company logos, and shed plates, with the darker LMS and BR schemes enhancing the locomotive’s elegant lines. Cab interiors have separately-fitted parts and dynamic firebox flicker for DCC-fitted versions, adding realism and depth.

Rapido Trains reports that "minor tweaks to livery and detailing are already being addressed before final production, ensuring the retail models are spot-on."

Our pre-order allocation is being placed on Monday December 1 with Rapido, after which remaining model orders will be placed on a first-come, first-served basis.
