Hornby has rounded off its 2026 TT:120 announcements with a launch led by the newly unveiled Brush Type 4, better known as the Class 47. Joining the locomotive are two newly tooled coach types, returning favourites and buildings for layouts ranging from diesel depots to urban streets.

Class 47 takes centre stage

The headline announcement is an all-new TT:120 Class 47, with three initial versions spanning British Rail and Virgin Trains liveries, available with and without TXS sound:

Hornby's tooling programme is designed to accommodate the class’s numerous detail variations, from early BR examples to locomotives working in later years. Both DCC-ready and DCC sound-fitted versions are planned, broadening the options for modellers building a diesel fleet.

Models are expected early 2028.

Newly tooled Mk.2F buffet and Mk.1 TSO coaches

The other two tooling announcements focus on passenger stock, adding more choice when putting together a train.

The Mk.2F Restaurant First Buffet (RFB), is planned in Virgin Trains red, InterCity Swallow and retro BR blue and grey as operated by West Coast Railways. The catering vehicle offers a useful addition to existing Mk.2 formations.

Also announced is a newly-tooled Mk.1 Tourist Second Open (TSO) in BR maroon and BR blue and grey.

Three more Class 37s join the range

Alongside the new Class 47, Hornby is returning to its English Electric Class 37 with another three liveries.

The line-up comprises 37421 in Colas Rail livery, 37800 in Rail Operations Group/Euro Phoenix livery, and D6865 in BR green. The selection gives early BR layouts and more contemporary railway scenes something to work with.

InterCity coaches and HST favourites return

The coaching-stock programme also includes Mark 2E coaches in InterCity Executive livery. For HST owners, Mk. 3 trailer cars in InterCity blue and grey are returning to the range. These provide another opportunity to extend existing Inter-City 125 formations.

New scenery brings depots and streets to life

Away from the trains, the launch introduces a substantial selection of scenic additions.

The infrastructure range includes fuel storage tanks, a pump house and concrete footbridges. Modern portable cabins also join the line-up, with an etched staircase allowing the cabins to be arranged in a stacked configuration—an option for a depot office or works compound.

Railway structures including a modern signal box, red-brick single- and double-width tunnel portals with sidewalls, and a matching road bridge. These additions offer more scope to give a layout’s railway infrastructure a consistent appearance.

For town scenes, Hornby has announced terraced houses with left- and right-hand end units and middle sections, alongside a customisable corner shop. The range opens up possibilities for streets of different lengths, whether placed beside a station or along the edge of a railway cutting.

A smaller power bank for HM7000

The launch also includes a practical electronic accessory: the (R7426) HM7000 Power Bank Mini.

Designed for smaller locomotives with limited internal space, it connects to compatible HM7000 decoders and provides stored energy to help bridge brief interruptions in track power. Its separate capacitor and control board offer flexibility during installation, while the plug-in connection avoids the need for soldering.
