EAST MEETS WEST

We selected this locomotive because of its fascinating history. Built at Crewe in May 1965 and originally allocated to Cardiff Canton, Vulcan later worked across both Western and Eastern Regions, notably at Stratford where its distinctive black-backed nameplates were replaced with striking red versions.

Representing the locomotive before the arrival of BR blue in the early 1970s, this model perfectly reflects an era when green diesels still ruled the rails. Rich in historical character and packed with Bachmann’s renowned detailing, D1676 is an essential addition for collectors and BR diesel enthusiasts alike.

Today, Vulcan lives on (partially) as a spares donor (47843) for West Coast Railways.
