Built by EMD in Canada in 2008, 66304 entered traffic with Fastline Freight, working heavy-haul and infrastructure services. Following Fastline's collapse in 2010, the locomotive joined Direct Rail Services, where it became a familiar performer on intermodal, engineering and nuclear support duties in Compass livery. In 2022, it transferred to GB Railfreight, continuing its career on Britain's freight network.

Bachmann Class 66/4 No. 66422 Max Joule 1958–1999

Unlike 66304, 66422 was built new for Direct Rail Services in 2006 as part of the dedicated Class 66/4 fleet. Since entering service, it has worked across Britain on nuclear flask trains, aggregates, infrastructure and intermodal traffic. The locomotive carries the name Max Joule 1958–1999, honouring a respected DRS employee, and remains an active member of the fleet today.
