First look: samples of new OO9 rolling stock from Rapido Trains
Rapido Trains has shared imagery of engineering prototypes of its forthcoming all-new rolling stock for OO9. To complement its new range of OO9 locomotives, its range of wagons are just as versatile, too.
Its 'all-purpose' wagon range features a variety of interesting body styles inspired by narrow gauge prototypes from around the world, as illustrated by the following new imagery...
Narrow gauge railways carried far more than just slate. From minerals and chemicals to livestock and timber, they hauled a diverse array of loads. Its new OO9 wagon range reflects that, with cylindrical tank wagons, gunpowder vans, peaked roof vans, stake wagons, and more — ideal for modelling everything from oil refineries and dairies to chemical plants, breweries, and mines.
Rapido has also included the manrider - shown top left in the image above, used widely to transport workmen and miners, and perfect for industrial or tourist line layouts. The livestock open wagon captures the style used by farmers once narrow gauge railways linked rural areas to markets and ports.
For more traditional freight, you’ll find covered vans, dropside opens, and a single-veranda brake van - all essential for realistic goods trains. Each wagon in the range shares a standard underframe and features NEM-compliant OO9 'hook-and-loop' couplings, ensuring compatibility with other brands.
