Dapol GWR Churchward 'OO' coaches: Pre-orders open at TMC
Dapol has announced a new range of OO gauge GWR Churchward ‘Toplight’ corridor coaches, now available to pre-order at TMC.
The models are currently in the final design stage, with CADs and artwork being refined ahead of production. Quantities will be based on demand, so pre-ordering is essential to secure your chosen variants.

- GWR Lined Crimson Lake (1914)
- GWR Lined Chocolate & Cream (1925)
- GWR Lined Chocolate & Cream – Twin Cities (1930)

Prototype background
These Churchward coaches were built between 1914 and 1920, featuring steel-bodied construction without traditional panelling. They had elegant mouldings around the windows and distinctive frosted glass toplights. Running on Churchward 9ft bogies, they were designed to operate in fixed sets, formations typically included left- and right-hand Brake Thirds, one or two Thirds, and left- and right-hand Composites. This arrangement allowed all corridor windows to be positioned on the same side—ideal for cross-country and main line services between major cities.
Suitable locomotives
These coaches pair well with GWR 'Prairie' tanks, including models from:
