THE CLARK RAILWORKS TT GAUGE PRESFLO
SUPER-DETAIL IN A PINT-SIZED PACKAGE
Clark Railworks has taken the detail of its acclaimed larger-scale Presflo and brought it to TT:120. At exactly 1:120 scale, these new wagons combine the compact proportions that make TT so appealing with an impressive level of separately fitted detail.
The prototype Presflos were best known as cement carriers, although they could also be found carrying materials including salt, clay, sand, alumina and powdered slate. Loaded from the top and discharged from the bottom, pressurised air helped keep the contents moving freely – giving the Presflo its name. Their distinctive external ribs strengthened the body when the wagon was emptied.
With examples seen across Britain from the mid-1950s through to the late 1980s, they offer plenty of scope for different layouts and formations. Most wore bauxite, while Blue Circle examples in South West England appeared in an unmistakable yellow livery. Presflos also travelled much further afield, including Scottish workings carrying alumina and duties connected with the Loch Kishorn oil-rig construction traffic.
