STATIC GRASS & THE FIELD SYSTEM™

For realistic grass, Woodland Scenics goes far beyond a single texture. The Field System is designed as a complete method for building meadows, fields, pastures, rough verges and natural vegetation, with different colours and textures that can be layered together.

STATIC KING®

The applicator uses an electrical field to help Static Grass stand vertically. Interchangeable sieves handle 2–12mm fibres, while the divided system lets you mix lengths and colours for less uniform, more natural-looking fields.

GRASS, TUFTS & TEXTURE

Blend different grass heights and colours to suggest new growth, dry grass and mature vegetation, then add Field Grass, Plant Hues, Briar Patch, flowers and other accents for extra depth.

THE RIGHT ADHESIVES

Static-Tac, Tuft-Tac and Spray-Tac are designed around different Field System jobs, helping grass and scenic textures stay where you put them.

A Static Grass Starter Kit offers an easy entry point, while Static King, Model-Vac and the wider Field System make it practical to tackle much larger areas and more advanced scenery.

BUILD SCENERY IN LAYERS — NOT JUST ONE COLOUR OF GREEN

The realism comes from layering. Fine Turf gives a fine base texture; Coarse Turf and Clump-Foliage build heavier vegetation; underbrush, bushes, flowers and foliage add variation; trees create height; rocks and talus break up the landscape; and Realistic Water and Water Effects let rivers, ponds and streams become part of the scene.

The useful part is that these materials are designed to work together. You can build the landform, colour the terrain, add turf, introduce coarse vegetation, apply static grass over existing scenic materials, plant trees and then finish the scene with figures, structures, vehicles, water, lighting and sound.

JUST PLUG® LIGHTING — REALISM WITHOUT THE WIRING HEADACHE

Woodland Scenics designed Just Plug around a simple idea: you should not need specialist electrical knowledge to make a layout glow. Light Hubs, Expansion Hubs and plug-in LEDs create a modular system that can grow from one building to an entire street or station scene.

Individual light brightness can be adjusted, the system can be expanded, and the range includes stick-on and nano LEDs, street lights, traffic lights, vehicles, wall-mounted lights and compatible pre-lit buildings. Woodland Scenics states that Just Plug works with DCC and can be used across scales.

WHY IT BECAME SO POPULAR

It removes one of the biggest barriers to scenic lighting: complicated wiring. Start small, plug components together, control the result and expand later. That same philosophy is now being taken into sound.

The new Just Plug® Sound System™ applies the same easy-to-use philosophy to audio. Instead of a scene simply looking busy, it can now have its own atmosphere: station activity, road traffic, bells, dogs, crossings, industry, countryside ambience or even your own recordings.

SOUND HUB

The heart of the system. The Starter Kit can incorporate up to four sounds with built-in controls for volume and operation.

SOUND CARDS

Insert pre-recorded Sound Cards into the Hub, or use the Card Reader to transfer your own sounds and personalise the scene.

SPEAKERS

Different speaker options allow sound to be positioned where it belongs, helping effects feel like part of the modelled scene rather than background audio.

TRIGGERS & ACCESSORIES

Triggers, delay controls, mixers, extension cables and other accessories let sounds react and operate in more sophisticated ways as the system grows.

For UK modellers, Woodland Scenics lists the JS6902 UK Starter Kit as coming soon. It combines the Sound Hub, UK power supply, four mini speakers, four pre-loaded Sound Cards and the Card Reader into one starting package.

WHY THIS MATTERS FOR A MODEL RAILWAY

LIGHT MADE SCENES VISIBLE. SOUND CAN MAKE THEM BELIEVABLE.

Just Plug Lighting changed the feel of buildings, streets and vehicles by adding activity after dark. Sound can do something similar for the atmosphere of the whole layout. A level crossing can have an audible warning, a town can carry subtle background activity, an industrial area can gain machinery and yard sounds, and a rural scene can have its own ambience.

Most importantly, it is a scenery system rather than a locomotive decoder. That means the sound can belong to the location itself — exactly where the modeller wants it — and the ability to load custom audio opens up much more individual scene-building.
