Workhorse As a part of its motorization from the years leading up to WWII the German military took on the SS-100 - a heavy tractor based upon a commercially-developed agricultural vehicle. It was a workhose with a towing capacity of 20 tons thanks to its highly reliable 6-cylinder water-cooled engine. Deployed by the German Army Luftwaffe and Navy the SS-100 towed all manner of subjects: field guns aircraft fuel and water tanks V2 rockets and even disabled vehicles its versatility and reliability standing it in good stead.
