R30356 Hornby OO Gauge IoWCR, Class A1, 0-6-0T, No. 10 'Terrier' - Era 2
Details
No. 10 was originally known as No. 69 ‘Peckham’ and was the eighth ‘Terrier’ to be constructed in 1872. No. 69 was in service under the LB&SCR having racked up 576,000 miles. The IoWCR purchased the locomotive for £700 in 1899. ‘Peckham’ arrived on the Isle of Wight in early 1900. The ‘Terrier’ engine was in service until 1936. The engine was sent to Eastleigh and stored to be used as a source for spare parts for the other surviving ‘Terrier’ locomotives. In 1949, the remains of the engine were scrapped.
This No. 10 ‘Terrier’ features a sleek, red-lined livery with a smattering of black and a legend of the locomotive’s operator in gold: ‘Isle of Wight Central Railway’. The accessory bag contains three vac pipes.
