What’s included?

A quality foundation for your module

At the heart of the kit is a 900 × 400mm Layout Concepts baseboard, made from 12mm poplar plywood for a strong, stable structure without excessive weight. Supplied flat-packed, it measures 100mm high when assembled and includes corner pockets for separately available legs. Its compact footprint makes it a practical choice for a portable modelling project.

The included PowerPoint dowels do more than align adjoining boards: they also provide electrical connectivity between sections, combining mechanical alignment and power transfer in the same connection system.

For the wiring beneath your module, solderless i-Link TEE connectors provide a straightforward way to make power-bus connections without soldering at those joints. Their reusable lever-operated design also makes alterations easier as your project develops.

PECO flexible track, TT trackbed, rail aligners and warm light grey ballast complete the core track-building package, ready for you to add your own scenic character.

Why build a modular railway?

A modular railway is made from separate sections that connect to form a larger layout. When builders follow the same specifications for board interfaces, track positions and electrical connections, their individual projects can come together for shared running sessions.

That means you can build and store your module at home, concentrate your time on a manageable area of scenery and still enjoy being part of a larger railway. At group meetings, the assembled layout may offer the opportunity to run longer trains than your own available space would allow.
