The 17.20 to Oxford was a stopping commuter train from Paddington which served the Home Counties of Middlesex, Berkshire and Oxfordshire. During the steam era the train was often headed by a Western Region Hall Class locomotive pulling maroon coaching stock of various types. After calling at the London suburban stations on its route, the train headed to Slough and then on to the stockbroker hamlets of Maidenhead and Twyford, for Henley-on-Thames. After a stop at Reading the service continued on to its final destination via Dicot taking around 1hr 50 minutes to complete the 65 mile journey. This set comes with a BR Hall class locomotive 4951 ïPendeford HallÍ and 3 Collett coaches of the type often seen on this service, but of course one can use these items to recreate many other memories from the bygone era of Western Region steam.
