76MV032 Oxford Diecast 1:76 Scale Mini Van Royal Navy
Details
The Mini Van, launched in the 1960s, was a highly popular little vehicle which provided a cheap alternative to a car and its ¼ ton load capacity made it a favourite for private owners as well as those needing a small commercial vehicle, which in those days carried no sales tax. It was built on the longer Mini Traveller chassis and came without rear side windows. Another compromise to keep the cost down was a simplified steel grille.
Our very attractive Mini Van painted in dark blue with white lettering is as used by the Royal Navy & Royal Marines Careers Office which, according to the address on the van sides, was stationed at 34 Queens Road, Brighton. It also carries a naval number plate 36 RN 62. The interior is dark grey. The Austin Mini badge sits on the edge of the bonnet and an interesting addition comes with this version of the Mini Van – a large silver spotlight fixed to the nearside front bumper.
