Details

TMC commissioned Bachmann to supply them with three pristine wagons in Annesley livery, each with different numbers. The 7-plank wagons are numbered 191, 194 and 198. The Annesley Colliery was in the Nottinghamshire coalfield, a few miles south of Kirkby-in-Ashfield, in the Leen Valley. Its steam and manufacturing coals were distributed over a wide area via the Great Central, the Midland and the Great Northern railways. The ports of Immingham, Boston and Goole were used for exporting coal from Annesley, with also a little going out via Hull docks. By the mid 1920s, the pit was producing gas, steam and domestic coal but ten years later, with the export business in decline, steam coal had been replaced by slack for power stations, in the products on offer.
